During this period Mr. Whittle was
touring the United States of America. Mr. Whittle had been
planning this trip for some time and at the end of a four-year
contract at British Telecom he had enough money to carry out the venture.
Mr. Whittle bought a car in Massachusetts and drove from coast to coast
and back stopping to visit places of interest on the way.
