During the period March 2000 to Jun 2003 Mr. Whittle was employed
on contract as an Analyst/Programmer in their Atlanta office to
complete the development the AS/400 modules for their Resolve
SRM product. The SpaceView Resource Monitor (Renamed Resolve SRM)
constantly monitors selected networked "resources" and issues
alerts and warnings when preset limits are reached. The project
was written in Java and Perl and ran on a Windows NT server.
After completion of the project BMC offered Mr. Whittle a full
time position to join a team to develop a Web Browser based solution
to their PATROL product using Java. The product will allow the
real time monitoring, alert notification, diagnosis and report
generation for any device on a Storage Area Network. Using this
product, network administrators can use any Java enabled WEB browser
to connect to the Patrol SRM server and load a Java Applet that
will give them a real time topological view of the current status
of their network. Using Java/XML API's and Java-JDBC/ODBC API's,
the product is also capable of providing a WEB based solution
for administration and report generation for every type of device
on the network. (For comparison, see Syntegra)
