September 1997 to Current
During this period Mr. Whittle was employed on contract as a programmer on a billing system project in a large team of programmers. The project was called the Regional Negotiation System (RNS) used by BellSouth representatives when a customer requests a new line or changes to facilities on an existing line.

The system was distributed over several systems that included the graphical interface (Presentation Layer), customer database, regional address guides and billing information database. Mr Whittle worked exclusively on the Presentation Layer that provided the graphical user interface to the BellSouth Representative. This was written in C for X-Windows using the Motif widget set. During this project Mr. Whittle was responsible for implementing the design specifications drawn up by a team of analysts, making the required code changes and implementing the required test procedures. Developers were responsible for maintaining their own WEB pages on the company intranet to chart the progress of the current feature on which they were working. Mr Whittle was also jointly responsible for the team WEB page and was responsible for creating prototype interfaces using DHTML and JavaScript for pre-approval before coding in C/Motif.
